Feminine Mixed Media Project

Today I'm sharing my first post as a design team member CrafTangles on the HNDMD blog.

I created a mixed media following the theme of September month's challenge 'Feminine'.
The quotation of my work is ‘Beauty may be dangerous but intelligence is lethal’. Time and again women received compliments mainly for their beauty and excellency in household works and if they do jobs then only how well they can manage both. Since childhood we all heard lots of idioms on those compliments too. Most of the time we don’t get appreciated for our academic achievements, job excellency or as an entrepreneur and even if we get acknowledgement, our gender comes first like ‘best female entrepreneur’, where it should be only the ‘best entrepreneur’ but we don’t see the same for our counterpart. So, I created this layout to portray that femininity doesn’t only reflect beauty but brain too and when those combine, becomes lethal.
If you love this work and really need to learn the process, please do check out the blog post of HNDMD and don't forget to participate in the challenge.

Rusty Patina Tags

This is Monalisa here and I am back with another DT project i.e. Rusty Patina Tags. The quotation of my work is ‘Take these broken wings and learn to fly ‘. I got inspiration from current month's mood-board and quotation of @nomadicsouldiaries .

I tried to portray the eternal expression of courage. We know that everyone has different struggles in their life but we take inspirations from the hardest one people overcome and that becomes an inspirational story for many. Whenever we see the story of a lady who conquered Everest summit, lost a leg in an accident but that incident couldn’t back her down rather fuelled her inner instinct to go out concurring the highest point on Earth. This type of story touches our souls.
There are lots of people around us who suffered a great deal but still fighting for the stepping stone to success without surrendering to the negativity. Majority of the time we see their achievement in the end and not their painful journey on the road to success. I created this tag to portray that journey. Through rusty patina, I tried to convey the struggle they face before brushing aside the difficulties to eventually fly high. People love to judge and sympathise rather than empathise that corrode the morale to the path to success.
I am participating for @nomadicsouldiaries October, 2020 challenge.

Forever Finding

I am presenting my recent work i.e. an altered canvas. The name of my work is ‘Chronicle of SOUL’ and the quote I have used for my work is ‘forever finding’. I created this mixed media project inspired by the September mood board of finnabair art recipe challenge.

I tried to portray our continuous search for peace, comfort and rejuvenation through my creation here. As we know, we can try time and again with lots of material things to achieve that but at the end of the day we need to go back to where we belong, from where our root is.

No matter how much you modernize, how much you try with artificial happiness, you must go back to find peace and comfort to our mother nature because that’s the only possible vicinity you may succeed in your search. In this work I tried to search through the eyes of a little girl, a symbol of innocence, finding her way out of this chaotic society to the eternal search for peace and solace.

The Stranger Within

 Mixed Media Journal Page

After a long time I tried my hand on journaling. The theme of my work is 'The stranger within'. Through my work I wanted to portray an oscillating wandering soul trapped in a stippling mind.

Mechanical Heart

 Steampunk Mixed Media :

Hi friends,
Here is my entry for the recent challenge of mixed media academy . The theme is "Be messy and complicated and show up anyways". This quote inspired me to create this altered canvas.
Through my work I tried to express our messy, complicated and mechanical thinking. Sometimes we lose our way but somehow figure it out by grasping the reality and at last showing up anyways. I am participating in the August 2020  challenge of mixed media academy .
